The Second Captivity

They Will Be Scattered Throughout The Whole World

* "And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, FROM ONE END OF THE EARTH TO THE OTHER; and you shall serve other gods of wood and stone which neither you nor your fathers have known. And among these nations you shall find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of your foot, but the Lord will give you there a trembling heart and failing eyes and a languishing soul; your life shall hang in doubt before you; night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life."
Deuteronomy 28:64-66

* "Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth; yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,'' says the Lord. For surely I will command, and will sift the house of Israel AMONG ALL NATIONS, as grain is sifted in a sieve; yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, who say, `The calamity shall not overtake us nor confront us.'"
Amos 9:8-10

* "I will scatter them also AMONG THE GENTILES whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send a sword after them until I have consumed them."
Jeremiah 9:16

The Second Captivity

The second captivity took place in 70 A.D.

Titus and the Roman Tenth Legion destroyed Judah and Jerusalem and drove the survivors into exile throughout the entire world.

The second Temple, the one that was standing in the time of Jesus, was destroyed once again on the 9th day of the month Av.

This dispersion lasted until the rebirth of Israel on May 14, 1948.

The Second Restoration Prophesied

Note: not “if” but “when”

* "When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations, and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you. Even if you have been banished TO THE MOST DISTANT LAND UNDER THE HEAVENS, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more propserous and numerous than your fathers."Deuteronomy 30:1-5
